Proximity voice chat for drivers
Roadby drops you into a live voice lobby with the drivers physically around you — hands-free, no map, no screen. Drift apart and the voice goes with them.
Free. No ads on screen. Your position is never shown to other users.
Four steps to get going
1. Create your account
Email, password, name and @username. No social logins and no odd permissions.
2. Turn on your radar
With location on, you pick your radius (100, 300 or 500 metres) and see how many people are near you.
3. Talk, hands-free
Tap Join to enter the voice lobby and talk to whoever is around you right now; you hear each other at full volume, and voices only start to fade as you reach the edge of each other’s range. Tap Leave to step out whenever you want.
4. You choose who
Add friends, switch on Friends mode to keep the lobby to them, or block and report anyone who needs it.
Works with the Bluetooth in your car
Roadby is meant to be used while you drive: the voice is live and hands-free, it works with the Bluetooth kit in your car, and once the radar is on you do not need to look at the screen at all.
Your position is never shown to other users
No other user sees your position: no map, no distance, no direction.
Voice is live and is never recorded anywhere.
You decide who hears you: Friends mode, mute, block or report.
Delete your account whenever you want, from Settings › Account › Delete account.

Frequently asked questions
How do I download Roadby?
You cannot yet. Roadby is not published on Google Play or the App Store: while the app is being finished it is a private build, shared by hand with a couple of people. When it is published, the download buttons on this page will take you straight to its listing. For now it only exists for Android.
Does Roadby work without an internet connection?
No: it needs a data connection to place you, show you the radar and connect the voice lobby.
How do I block or report another user?
Open their profile in the app, tap the ⋯ button (top right) and choose “Report @username” to report them or “Block @username” to block them. Blocking is immediate and the other person gets no notice of it. To unblock: Settings › Account › Blocked users.
How do I delete my account and my data?
In the app: Settings › Account › Delete account, typing your password and confirming with “Delete forever”. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. The privacy policy explains what is deleted and what is kept (for example, reports you filed, anonymised).
Can anyone see my exact location?
No. No other user sees your position, your distance or your direction. Anyone near you only sees that you are in range: the circle of your radius and the circle of theirs overlap, or almost touch (with a gap of less than 50 to 100 metres, depending on the radii). In the voice lobby, while the circles overlap, they hear you at full volume whatever the distance between you; as the circles drift apart, your voice gets quieter step by step until it is gone. More detail in the privacy policy.
I have a problem with another user, what do I do?
Block and report them from their profile (the ⋯ button), and write to us at support@roadby.app telling us what happened so we can look into it.
